2013 Dark Skies & Black Ties “Fire & Ice” Gala

Established in 1993 as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, Summit Healthcare’s Foundation goal is to make high-quality healthcare more accessible to those who live and work in our communities by assisting Summit Healthcare with health education and fundraising. Summit Healthcare’s Foundation members are passionate, proving affirmation to the public of a commitment to support worthy charitable activities amongst the region as a whole.

Summit Healthcare Foundation’s goal for hosting “Dark Skies and Black Ties Fire and Ice Gala” is to raise funds for Summit Healthcare’s Cancer Center located at Summit Health Care Regional Medical Center. This event is very special because the expansion of Summit Healthcare’s Cancer Center offers the community the opportunity to receive their treatments at home with family in a larger more comfortable setting, rather than travel off the mountain for treatment. As we know, receiving treatment at home close to family makes recovery easier.

Anyone who has experienced Summit Healthcare’s Cancer Center has an understanding of what a cancer patient experiences from the daunting first words of being diagnosed, to the anxious words of remission. Summit Healthcare’s Foundationunderstands the unexpected that comes with this disease-Cancer.  Thus our reason to aspire to raise awareness to the community that Summit Healthcare Cancer Centerhas the means to support the patients who are diagnosed with this devastating disease.

To help grow awareness of Summit Healthcare’s Cancer Center, two television commercials have been created along with patient testimonials about the care they received at Summit Healthcare’s Cancer Center. Many people do not know they can be treated within their local community.

Summit Healthcare Foundation has taken the full responsibility to raise all funds for Summit Healthcare’s Cancer Center. Our goal with taking on cancer is awareness of the services Summit Healthcare provides related to this disease, and the expansion to Summit Healthcare’s Cancer Center. This duty of the Foundation and for everyone affected by cancer is to support the belief of rising above and of going beyond to overcome cancer for the White Mountain communities.
