Summit Healthcare Provides Teleneurology Care
In an effort to offer neurological services to the area Summit Healthcare continues to provide state-of-the-art telemedicine coverage to patients in the White Mountains. Current telemedicine programs offered through the Emergency Room at Summit Healthcare are Telestroke, Teleconcussion, and Teleneurology. Summit Healthcare is able to provide patients suffering from a stroke or having neurological symptoms a direct appointment with a board-certified neurologist 24/7. Through video conference technology we are able to connect the neurologist to the patient at Summit without having to leave the mountain for a appointment and provide our patients with quality care at Summit Healthcare.
A patient presenting to Summit Healthcare’s Emergency Room, experiencing neurological symptoms, will see a physician and a health assessment will be completed. The assessment consists of patient vitals, medical history and procedures such as blood tests or CT Scans, which are important pieces of information the neurologist needs for diagnosis. Working with the physicians in the Emergency Department, the neurologist uses the real time camera and monitor to perform a thorough neurological assessment of the patient, as well as interaction with Summit Healthcare physicians and nurses.
“For patients suffering a stroke or other neurological conditions, immediate treatment by a board-certified neurologist can mean quicker diagnosis and improved outcomes,” says Shawn Morrow, CEO of Summit Healthcare. “Having the combined expertise and 24-hour neurology coverage for our patients will enable them to stay on the mountain to receive care.”
Summit Healthcare also offers additional Inpatient Telemedicine Services to its community:

- Radiology
- Neonatology
- Psychiatry
- Perinatal
