Emergency Department in Arizona

Summit Healthcare was the first hospital in Arizona to become a Level IV Trauma Center designated from the Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System. Level IV trauma center provides the important first steps in the care of a trauma patient: initial evaluation, stabilization, diagnostic capabilities and when appropriate, transfer a patient to a higher level of care.

Summit Healthcare is also the first Arizona facility outside a major metropolitan area to receive the Pediatric-Prepared Emergency Care (PPEC) certification, according to the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AzAAP) and Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS).  For more information, please visit our news section. The Emergency Room staff strives to keep your wait to see a physician as short as possible and to keep you informed about your status. The Emergency Room, however, does not operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. The most seriously sick and injured are cared for first, and sometimes you may not see these patients arrive as they may come to the hospital via ambulance.

When you arrive, be prepared to tell medical personnel about your medical history, including current medications, past surgeries or medical problems and allergies.
