What is an image guided biopsy?
An image guided biopsy is a procedure to remove abnormal tissue or fluid from the body, so it can be examined under a microscope for signs of damage or disease. Your doctor will insert a needle through your skin and into the abnormal tissue. An imaging technique such as computed tomography (CT) or ultrasound is used to help guide the radiologist’s instruments to the appropriate site.
