Show Low, Ariz. – Summit Healthcare announced today that it has entered into an oncology collaboration agreement with Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, Ariz. This agreement is an extension of the existing health care collaboration between Summit Healthcare and Banner Health. The primary goal of both agreements is to ensure that Summit Healthcare patients receive the highest level of care for all their medical needs.
Through this oncology agreement, Summit Healthcare patients will have direct access to Banner MD Anderson, should the need arise. The preferred referral relationship between these entities will provide patients with a designated navigator to coordinate seamless care in the event that transfers to Banner MD Anderson are necessary. The navigator will assist these patients through their courses of treatment at Banner MD Anderson and help with their integration back once treatment is complete.
In addition to a designated navigator, the collaboration agreement provides Summit Healthcare physicians and other care providers with ongoing continuing education opportunities via remote telecommunication. Banner MD Anderson physicians will be made available to Summit Healthcare Cancer Center physicians for informational consultations regarding oncology diagnoses and treatments.
