Therapy Services for Every Age | Summit Healthcare | Show Low, AZ Summit Healthcare’s Therapy Services team provides pediatric and adult occupational, physical, and speech therapy to residents of the White Mountain Community and all of northeastern Arizona.

“I LIKE TO SAY that as much as we are helping people with the physical and practical challenges they are facing, we are also in the hope business,” says Wade McDowell, OTR/L, Director of Therapy Services at Summit Healthcare. “We may give you hope that you will be able to sit through church or a family dinner, hope that if you are facing head and neck cancer, you will be able to swallow again and enjoy regular food, or hope that after a joint replacement, you will be able to spend time with your family doing activities you enjoy.”

Equipped to Meet Every Need

The Summit Healthcare therapy clinics offer advanced tools that help patients safely regain strength and abilities. For example, the Solo-Step overhead track and harness system protects people from falling during rehabilitation sessions. Additionally, our speech therapists utilize intraoral pressure instrumentation to accurately track progress of tongue and lip strength.

Pediatric specialists are trained to address a variety of challenges, including developmental delays, sensory processing issues, toe walking, and torticollis.

If you are managing swelling in the arms or legs as a result of damaged lymph nodes, Summit Healthcare employs the only certified lymphedema therapist in the region, Suzanne C. Brumfield, OTR/L, CLT.

“We have patients coming from as far away as Winslow to see Suzanne,” Wade says. “She is tremendously skilled and experienced in providing effective decongestive therapy to relieve swelling that can become debilitating for some.”

A Thoughtful Plan

Summit Healthcare’s therapists work with providers to design a care plan tailored to meet patients’ needs as they progress through therapy or treatment. In addition, sessions with any of our therapists generally last 45 minutes to provide the level of individual attention that helps patients achieve their goals faster.

“Our ultimate goal is to help people improve their day-to-day function,” Wade says. “We want to get people back to the things that are important to them.”
