Why do I need women’s imaging services?
Women’s imaging refers to the various radiology services that can be performed to provide a diagnosis of a condition, to monitor certain health conditions, or to check for results of treatment for certain health conditions. This may include obstetrical, gynecological, breast images, or bone density tests. We also provide screenings for certain conditions and encourage women to undergo diagnostics for early detection of serious concerns such as breast cancer or cervical cancer.
Are mammograms important?
Mammograms are screening images that are used to detect the signs of cancer in the breasts. With early detection and treatment, breast cancer can be effectively addressed before they become a bigger risk or problem. Mammograms should be done annually for women over the age of 40 to monitor for signs of breast cancer. These diagnostic screenings are vital to early detection and the best possible outcome for women who have a positive diagnosis of cancer in the breast tissues. If there is any unusual growth or problem detected during a mammogram, additional procedures and imaging services may be done to get a better idea of what the patient is dealing with. In some cases, biopsies may be done to remove a sample of breast tissue and test it separately for diagnostic purposes.
