Summit Healthcare receives high rankings from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for quality and safety of patients. More than 3500 hospitals participated in the program and Summit Healthcare in Show Low, AZ received a 4-stars out of 5-stars, with 5-star being the best quality.
Similar to hotel star ratings, the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating is designed to help individuals, their family members, and caregivers compare hospitals in a way that they understand (CMS website, 2016). The star rating summarizes data from existing quality measures publicly reported on Hospital Compare into a single star rating for each hospital, the website makes it easier for consumers to compare hospitals and be able to interpret quality information. 1
The ratings include 64 of the more than 100 measures displayed on Hospital Compare. CMS collects the information on these measures through the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program and Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting Program. 2
CMS released the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating in late July 2016 for data reported from October 2013 to the end of September 2014. To learn more about CMS and the Overall Hospital Star Rating visit www.Medicare.gov/HospitalCompare/Data.
